absolute nothingness

The wild geese do not intend to cast their reflection;
The water has no mind to receive their image.

- zenrin kushu

God is absolute nothingness (mattaku mu). However, if one says that God is merely nothingness (tan ni mu), this is certainly not so. At the base of the establishment of reality there is the unifying function which clearly cannot be moved. … God… is the basis of reality, and only because He is able to be Nothingness, is there no place whatsoever where He is not. i see what i want to see

i am so bogged down with my own thoughts that
  everything that HE shows me,
every evidence he presents of HIS being,
every push HE gives to me,
   I think it is me,
I am the contamination in everything

I want to take me and my ego out of
  every image of HIM,
  every act of HIS,

I want to be void of me...
  to find HIM.

free

what is being free,
is it the non existence of desires
or having the desire of truth

what is being free,
is it the non existence of bindings relations
or having the strength of love

what is being free,
is it the non existence of any faith
or having the inner light of hope

free is never in the non existence but in the existence that makes us grow un-inhibited both inside and outside... i seek the freedom of HIM. He the hermit who lives on the most unreachable mountains is not who is free but free is the one who lives intensely each moment in the crowd of life with the desire, love and hope of HIM.

traditions

All that is left
to us by tradition
is mere words.

It is up to us
to find out what they mean.

ibn al-`Arabi, Tarjuman al-Ashwaq, in The Mystics of Islam, translated by Reynold A Nicholson

sweep out yourself

Go sweep out the chamber of your heart.
Make it ready to be the dwelling place of the Beloved.
When you depart out, He will enter it.
In you, void of yourself, will He display His beauties.

Mahmud Shabistari - 'Rose Garden of Mystery'
